In 2014 Rhiannon Braddick graduated from Cardiff University with a 2:1 in Music (with a first in Music Performance). Rhiannon then went on to further her musical studies at Cardiff University by completing a Postgraduate in Music Performance, with Merit. Rhiannon was also Cardiff University Symphony Orchestra’s Principal Flautist and coached the orchestra’s flautists.

She has achieved both her ABRSM Music Performance Diploma (two grades above grade 8) and ABRSM Grade 8 on the flute.

Rhiannon has over 20 years’ playing experience, and has competed in many national competitions on both the flute and saxophone. She has performed in numerous orchestras, jazz bands and operas, and has recorded many orchestral CD’s, including the world premiere of Claude Debussy’s two newly-found works.

Rhiannon has a lot of experience coaching instrumentalists. In 2017 Rhiannon taught and lead The Carducci Quartet (a professional string quartet) as part of a Postgraduate Music Leadership module. Rhiannon was also asked to give a lecture at Cardiff University on the workings of the flute and has completed a Postgraduate module in Music Teaching.

In her younger years, Rhiannon was Principal Flautist of Cardiff and Vale Youth Wind Band, which have performed at Carnegie Hall, New York and were 1st place, Platinum Award Winners of the National Concert Band Festival - Great Britain. Rhiannon was also First Saxophone in a jazz band awarded best Youth Ensemble in Wales at the National Eisteddfod.

Rhiannon's musical performance training has moulded her into an incredibly proficient musician and has allowed her to fully develop her playing ability. This training has seen her receive endless tuition, including masterclasses by Sir James Galway and BBC National Orchestra's Principal Flautist Mathew Featherstone, covering everything from practise techniques to performance confidence.

Rhiannon is now a full-time instrumental tutor, offering flute lessons, saxophone lessons and piano lessons in Cardiff, Penylan. She offers both ABRSM grades as well as non-graded lessons, and also offers lessons through the medium of Welsh.

I teach in an encouraging and positive way nurturing the pupil’s musical ability, thus helping the individual to realise their full potential whilst also creating a fun and happy environment. My top priority is to make sure that everyone is comfortable and happy and develops at their own pace, whether they are looking to progress up the grades quickly, to take their time, or to learn simply for fun. I give high quality lessons in which I tailor each session to the individual depending on their goals/needs.

In addition to the usual note and rhythm learning, my instrumental teaching covers musicality, phrasing, audience communication, emotional communication and additionally for wind instrumentalists - tuning, breath control, tone quality, vibrato and strong diaphragm and tonguing techniques. I also offer confidence and performance training to the individual if need be.

I am also happy to conduct the lessons through the medium of Welsh.
